What is Blockbit’s FIM?
Blockbit XDR’s File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) is a functionality designed to continuously monitor an organization’s file system, identifying any changes made to the content, permissions, ownership, and attributes of files. It records and tracks these changes, as well as identifying the users and applications responsible for creating or modifying them. This auditing capability allows for detailed oversight of every action taken in the environment, which is crucial for early detection of suspicious or malicious activity that could compromise data integrity, helping to prevent attacks such as critical file manipulation and other types of exploitation.

Blockbit XDR has all of its modules inprogress, including FIM. The integration of FIM with the other detection and protection modules of Blockbit XDR enhances threat detection and blocking by correlating changes in the file system with other suspicious activities on endpoints, networks and systems. This integration allows Blockbit XDR to better exploit the capabilities of FIM, providing a more comprehensive and contextualized view of changes, such as changes to critical files, that may be related to anomalous behavior detected elsewhere in the infrastructure. With this, FIM not only monitors changes, but, combined with Blockbit XDR’s behavioral analysis and autoresponder engines, offers more robust protection, activating immediate responses when needed.
